About
Black Swan Estates is a private lake community built in 1954. Most of the original homes were traditional ranch-style construction, but as the community grew the style of the homes changed—now Black Swan is a collection of diverse architecture encompassing mid-century modern, A-Frames and split-level homes that seem to grow from the hillside. Now at 134 home sites, Black Swan runs from 51st street south to County Line Road.
134 home sites included over two Kansas counties
Black Swan straddles the cities of Shawnee and Kansas City, Kansas. Residents must follow the building codes for city of residence and get approval from the House Approval Committee. Police and emergency medical services are provided based on your city of residence.
Black Swan is a private residential community
Lake, pool and common areas are for the use and enjoyment of residents and their guests.
Lake is 18 acres and 45 foot at it’s deepest
Watercraft including canoes, paddle boards, row boats, kayaks, etc. are welcome on the lake and can be stored in one of the three designated boat yards along the shoreline. No gas powered watercraft are permitted.
Pool and nature trail
In addition to the lake, residents can enjoy time at the pool or strolling the trails and streets around the neighborhood. The natural growth found all around the shoreline in the woods provides a feeling of privacy not found in most of the residential communities.
Volunteers are the heart of the community
Many key services and operations are resident supported by volunteers serving one of the 13 committees essential to maintaining our beautiful community.
The best of both worlds
Black Swan is convenient to all the excitement the Kansas City Metro has to offer. You can easily be downtown, the airport or the Country Club Plaza in less than 30 minutes.
